Our Canine Weight Clinic is designed to support dogs who need a little extra help to reach and maintain a healthy weight, whether that’s weight loss, weight gain, or simply staying on track.

The clinic is run by Claire, a Registered Veterinary Nurse, alongside Jo Heuston an APNC registered Canine Nutritionist and founder of The Dog’s Kitchen. Together, we combine clinical knowledge with practical, evidence-based nutrition advice to give your dog well-rounded, compassionate support.

During your appointment, we will:

  • Accurately weigh your dog
  • Carry out a Body Condition Score (BCS) assessment
  • Discuss your dog’s current diet, lifestyle, and health
  • Provide tailored dietary and feeding advice
  • Offer realistic, supportive guidance to help you make sustainable changes

Our approach is non-judgemental and supportive, we understand that every dog (and owner) is different. Whether your dog needs help shedding excess weight, building condition safely, or maintaining a healthy balance, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

This clinic is ideal for dogs who:

  • Are overweight or underweight
  • Have mobility or joint concerns linked to weight
  • Need nutritional support alongside a health condition
  • Would benefit from regular weight and condition monitoring

Our goal is simple: healthier dogs, happier lives, and confident owners who feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
